It primarily consists to essays I have written as part of my MDiv program.
CH1: Silent Demons Any essay questioning why the demons in Mark chapter 1 were commanded to be silent.
CH1: Why Baptism ? Any essay considering the baptism and temptation of the Lord Jesus and discussing why there were neccessary.
CH2: The Sabbath This lengthy essay discusses both the symbolic and literal meaning of the Sabbath and the 'adjustment' that the Lord makes to its' interpretation in Mark 2.
CH3: Christian Family Discusses the meaning of the slightly controversial passage where Jesus apparently rejects His mother in favor of His disciples.
C3: Lord's Physical Family This essay looks at the Lord's interaction with His physical family. It briefly touches upon the subject of Mariology.
C4: Parable of Sower An exposition of the parable of the sower with particular emphasis upon questions regarding the eternal security of the believer.
C4: Rebuking The Wind An essay discussing the rebuking of the wind in Mark chapter 4 rendered particularly poignant as it was written over the period of Hurricane Wilma.
C5: Healing Legion An essay discussing the healing of Legion with the subsequent slaughter of the herd of swine. Give particular attention to the effect upon the rest of Decapolis.
C6: Walking on Water An overview of the miracle of the Lord walking upon water with particular focus on the typical (or long term) significance of the miracle.
C7: Small Miracles A discussion of the healing of the man who was deaf and impaired in speech. In particular the reason for Mark singling out one miracle to report when Matthew discusses many is discussed.
C8: Decision Time This essay discusses the Lord's assertion that we have to deny ourselves, pick up our cross daily and follow Him. It does so in the setting of the progression of the revelation of the Lord's character as shown in the gospel of Mark.
C9: The Cup of Water A table rather than an essay contrasting the many, totally antithetical opinions upon the meaning of the Lord's statement that the giving of a cup of water would always be rewarded. A possible synthetic resolution is then offered.
C10: Camels & Needles A brief overview with internet links of the current state of the art in the understanding of the expression 'a camel to pass through the eye of a needle'.
C10: Greatness This essay attempts to analyze the culturally divergent meanings of greatness along three axes of power, prestige and privilege. In then describes the Lord's teaching upon how the Christian world should interpret greatness along these axis.
C11: Forgiving Others - The forgotten codicil. This essay, the preparation of which pretty much blew me away, asserts that the Lord's specific teaching is that the confession of our daily sins is only effective if we have already forgiven others.
C12: Half Truths - An essay addressing the question "What think ye of Christ" and discussing why the answer 'the Son of David' was accurate but inadequate.
C14: I AM - The development of the title 'I AM' in Hebrew thought and later in Jesus' ministry. In particular the title is contrasted to Jehovah to which it is similar but not identical
CH15: Crucifixion - An essay developing the two fold significance of the crucifixion, first as a God facing act of justification and secondly as a man facing act of evangelism.
CH16: Resurrection Lengthy essay upon the resurrection detailing the many physical proofs and eye witness accounts. Further consideration is given to the centrality of the resurrection in the mind of the key players and then the church at large and finally within biblical theology.
